Flood water flowed into your building from the streets outside. It detoured through fields, sewers, and possibly even chemical plants. It contains all types of substances from mud to gasoline, even if it looks clear. Floodwater is dirty. It can cause serious illness. Keep in mind that you don’t even have to touch the water for it to make you sick. MOLD

Any type of water will activate mold spores, and that includes floodwater. Floodwater stands inside your building, giving mold plenty of time to grow and multiply. Mold aggravates health problems, especially allergies and asthma. Mold also hides in dark corners and behind walls, making it difficult to remove without professional help.

ELECTRICITY

Standing water can short-circuit your electricity. Worse, if the water touches a power source, it can electrocute anyone who comes into contact with it. ABSORPTION

Your building has more porous surfaces than you might think. The walls, carpets, and certain types of hard flooring can absorb water. As a result, these surfaces can soften and crumble.

ROTTEN WOOD

Standing water can get into wooden surfaces, causing them to rot. With deep enough wood rot, those surfaces become dangerous. After a certain point, they can’t support the same amount of weight that they used to. As a result, they may collapse and cause injury. Furthermore, wood rot causes cosmetic issues. Rotten wood bends into weird angles, and the flood water can leave stains.

REMOVAL & DRYING

When we dry your building, we make sure that we get every single surface, including the ones that you don’t see. CLEANING & DISPOSAL

Next, we’ll get rid of all of the things that we can’t salvage. Unfortunately, when it comes to floodwater, many things can’t be saved. The bacteria and other toxic substances usually embed themselves too deeply into items like carpets and chairs. For those items, we dispose of them safely. For anything that we can salvage, we use a thorough cleaning process that removes all of the germs. We disinfect every last surface that the floodwater may have touched

MOLD REMEDIATION

Once we’ve cleaned and dried every surface, we’ll check the area for mold. After a flood, it’s important to get rid of every last bit of mold that the water leaves behind. When water activates mold spores, that mold can stick around for years, even decades. If you leave any mold behind, even the smallest amount, the mold will keep growing. AIR QUALITY CHECK

Remember when we mentioned that floodwater can impact your building’s air quality? We won’t leave the building without making sure that it has clean, breathable air.
